January & February 2024

Focus in painting right now is in areas of weakness - so I can’t say that I am creating anything that I am particularly pleased with. But I do know that I must choose to engage in the struggle in order to improve.

Ourdoors scenes are a serious weakness - and I live in an area so filled with amazing sights here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s clear to see that there are a number of needs in this piece - but I am posting it within this area with the hopes that there will be something better to show progress in the future. Embarrassing as it is - putting it out there is certainly a motivation towards learning to do it better.

One funny thing that I should probably have noticed years ago is that the weaknesses in my art sure do tend to follow the same weaknesses that I encounter in daily life, such as: trying to focus on too many things at one time, following rabbit trails in purpose, etc.
